The Jaguar E-Type Lightweight was introduced in the early 1960s as a more performance-oriented version of the standard E-Type. Originally, Jaguar planned to produce 18 units of this model, but only 12 were completed between 1963 and 1964 due to various production constraints.
The Lightweight was designed to compete in racing, leveraging the success of the earlier Jaguar D-Type, which had won the 24 Hours of Le Mans multiple times.
